The PDS Forelimb Hobble System prevents exessive abduction (outward lateral movement) of the forelimbs and limits shoulder extension and flexion. The forelimb hobbleling results in a controled shortened gait when walking. The PDS Front Leg Hobble System can be a better alternitive to the Velpeau sling in certain situations, because the continued yet controled use of the limb reduces muscle atrophy and morbidity to the forelimb joints of other bandaging systems, while allowing ongoing rehabilitation therapy. The PDS Forelimb Hobble System is easy to apply, wash and reapply, even for non-veterinary professionals and can be worn continuously by the patient for several months with no irritation.
The system is comprised of PDS Dog Elbow Procection with a set of hobble straps. This design by Schon Gross (Founder of both PDS and DogLeggs) was created in conjuction with veterinary surgical and rehabilitation researchers and practitioners around the world and has been sucessfully used on thousands of patients. This design is referenced in Veterinary Surgery Small Animal Volume One, Tobias & Johnson.
The PDS Forelimb Hobble System is only available to be ordered by veterinary professionals.
